Individual Therapy

You’re doing your best just to survive.

No matter how strong and resourceful we may be, we know from experience that pain is inevitable in life. Sometimes the pain is so deep and wide that there seems to be no way out at all.

But what you’ve been doing isn’t working anymore. It’s making things worse. It’s like you fell into a hole too deep to climb out, and what you’ve tried only made it deeper.

You don’t even remember how it all started. Whatever the problem was didn’t seem like that big a deal. A few hurt feelings. Some major disappointments. You told yourself you could handle it.

But now…

…its developed into persistent anxiety, intimacy issues, an eating problem that won’t go away.

The good news is that there’s a reason why you act the way you do. It makes sense when you step back and consider how you came to be the way you are.

But now your life has outgrown that. The survival skills that protected you earlier, like people-pleasing or forecasting other’s responses, don’t make things better.

It’s like trying to cram your foot into shoes that are too tight. And trying harder isn’t the answer.

That’s why you need a new set of solutions that will fit who you are today and where you’re headed. Because the pain of staying the same isn’t worth it.

You want change.

You know it. But that requires both will power (wanting it) and way power (knowing how to get it). I have tools for both. This is your opportunity. You are where you need to be. It’s time to make a shift.

Insight-oriented therapy changes the way you think about, well, everything. It’s the only way to find the answers you seek.

Albert Einstein said, “You can’t solve a problem from the same level of consciousness that created it.” In other words, you can’t think your way out of a problem by going over and over it with the same mindset that created it. A shift needs to happen.

To make room for something truly different to arise,
you need new solutions, new assumptions: a whole new perspective.

You need to understand the person you are and how you came to be that way. Uncover the limiting beliefs you have about yourself, like: “I’m too sensitive” or “too loud” or “too needy.” You can know why you feel and react the way you do and how you can change to get the results you want.

You’ll learn to stop running from certain feelings and instead how to decode them for the wisdom they hold. And you discover whether you’re trapped or if you’re imprisoning yourself with a narrative of shame or self-punishment.

That’s how I help.

I provide an atmosphere of acceptance and compassion so that it’s okay to be where you are. New possibilities can emerge to get you out of the rut of your current experiences.

I use a variety of methods to tailor each session to what works for you. I have lots of ways to shine the light, so you can start to see things from a different perspective.

It takes courage to pick up the phone. You feel vulnerable and maybe a little desperate. I know. I get that.

But you also know what you need. So call (630) 999-8151 today. I welcome hearing from you.
