How do you know when it's time to seek professional help?

If you want more information or answers to your mental health questions, check out my RESOURCES page.

A year from now you may wish that you had started today.

Are you wishing things were better, hoping they’ll improve, or waiting for life to change?

We all face struggles of many kinds. But when your challenges keep you stuck in destructive patterns, or affect your overall well-being, it may be time to seek professional help. Take the brief assessment on this page. If these questions describe your life, don’t wait until things get worse to seek help. DO something. Your life is too precious to waste.

To find out if the time is right for you to seek help, give yourself a score on a scale of 1-5 (with 1 being almost never, and 5 being all the time) regarding the following questions:

____ Do you find yourself repeating the same mistakes over and over?

____ Have you exhausted yourself trying to make life work?

____ Do you feel as if you’re losing touch with the good things in you?

____ Do you wish you could identify and express your emotions in ways that produce good results?

____ Are you frustrated by other people who don’t respect your boundaries?

If your score on any of the above questions was greater than 3, it’s probably time to reach out. It takes courage to reach out, but consider the alternative:

There is no magic in recovery. We get what we work for.
